Mediante el uso de diversas técnicas fotográficas y un cuidadoso proceso de posproducción, Thaddäus Biberauer transforma la realidad cotidiana en un catálogo de imágenes oníricas de una belleza intrigante y poderosa. A través de su mirada y de su particular manera de desentrañar el entorno, los campos de flores, las playas o los cauces de los ríos, así como las ciudades, se convierten en ricas composiciones pictóricas que nos ofrecen una vía estimulante y emocional de entender el mundo.
¿Cuándo nació tu amor por la fotografía?
Mi amor por la fotografía floreció después de comprar mi primera cámara en 2019. Inicialmente la usé para capturar algunos deportes que me gustaban. Sin embargo, en marzo de 2021, profundicé más en serio en la fotografía, experimentando con diversas técnicas para crear imágenes únicas y atractivas. Además, colaborar con amigos aumentó la diversión y me brindó la oportunidad de explorar juntos diferentes estilos y enfoques.
Para mí, la fotografía es una forma de arte liberadora donde no hay reglas, lo que permite una experimentación y creatividad infinitas. Ya sea probando nuevas técnicas o, simplemente, capturando momentos, la fotografía sigue siendo una fuente de alegría y posibilidades infinitas en mi vida.
¿Cuáles son tus principales líneas de trabajo como fotógrafo?
Mi principal línea de trabajo como fotógrafo gira en torno a la fotografía de naturaleza y paisaje, ya que me permite sumergirme en ambientes serenos y capturar la belleza del mundo natural. Encuentro consuelo deambulando por lugares aleatorios, siempre buscando sujetos cautivadores para fotografiar.
Si bien la fotografía de naturaleza es mi principal pasión y me resulta más natural, también disfruto experimentando con otros géneros fotográficos para ampliar mis habilidades y mi perspectiva. Explorar diferentes tipos de fotografía, como la fotografía callejera o urbana, es un desafío que me obliga a adaptarme y a seguir aprendiendo, lo que enriquece mi viaje fotográfico general.
Además, viajar a diversos lugares alimenta mi creatividad y presenta interesantes oportunidades de crecimiento, aunque fotografío principalmente la pintoresca campiña de Austria, donde abundan los bosques, los lechos de los ríos y los campos cerca de mi casa. En definitiva, mi fotografía es una combinación de aprecio por el mundo natural, experimentación continua y la alegría de capturar momentos dondequiera que me lleven mis aventuras.
Tus fotografías tienen un marcado carácter pictórico y parecen fotogramas de un sueño o de un recuerdo. ¿Por qué te gusta esta estética? ¿Por qué te interesa añadir un toque irreal u onírico al entorno que te rodea?
La estética onírica de mis fotografías surgió de forma natural a medida que exploraba diversas técnicas, al encontrar alegría y creatividad en la manipulación de filtros y lentes para capturar escenas que resuenan con una sensación de surrealismo. No se trata sólo de capturar la realidad sino de transformarla en algo único y cautivador, reflejando mi fascinación por lo poco común y extraordinario.
El pictorialismo ha sido una influencia significativa en mi trabajo, ya que me aporta libertad a la hora de interpretar e imbuir a las imágenes de un significado personal. Al igual que en las pinturas, particularmente en las acuarelas y los acrílicos, donde la ambigüedad invita a una exploración más profunda, me esfuerzo por evocar una sensación similar de intriga y asombro en mi fotografía. Al agregar un toque irreal u onírico a mi entorno, pretendo crear imágenes que trasciendan lo ordinario, invitando a los espectadores a sumergirse en un mundo de imaginación y emoción.
¿Qué mensaje o idea quieres transmitir a través de tus fotografías?
Principalmente, creo imágenes que conectan con mi estética personal y que me generan alegría. Encuentro satisfacción en la espontaneidad de capturar imágenes atractivas en lugares aparentemente aleatorios, mostrando que la belleza se puede encontrar en cualquier lugar, no sólo en lugares tradicionalmente fotogénicos. Si bien mis fotografías pueden evocar emociones específicas o tener un significado personal para mí, prefiero dejar la interpretación abierta al espectador. Creo que cada individuo debe conectarse con una imagen a su manera, permitiendo que ésta le hable a nivel personal.
¿Qué cualidad te gusta o te interesa más de la fotografía?
El encanto de la fotografía radica en descubrir la belleza en cada momento y tener la libertad de expresarme creativamente mientras disfruto del proceso. Además, me he dado cuenta de que en fotografía, las condiciones climáticas adversas no son obstáculos sino puertas de entrada a oportunidades extraordinarias.
¿Cómo te mantienes creativo? ¿Cuáles son tus principales fuentes de inspiración?
Mi creatividad se nutre de la espontaneidad, a menudo provocada por el simple hecho de deambular por diversos paisajes. Tengo por costumbre levantarme temprano, buscando la belleza etérea del amanecer o el misterioso encanto de las escenas de niebla antes de comenzar el día. La inspiración también llega inesperadamente, ya sea en películas, imágenes aleatorias o pinturas que encuentro en revistas o en las redes sociales. La curiosidad alimenta mi deseo para comprender y recrear ciertas miradas, además de impulsarme a experimentar y superar los límites de mi oficio.
¿Qué lugar real te gustaría fotografiar?
Hay muchos lugares en los que me gustaría fotografiar, pero si tuviera que destacar uno sería la selva amazónica. Su belleza y biodiversidad son simplemente increíbles. Me encantaría ver todo lo que hay allí por mí mismo.
¿Qué universo ficticio te gustaría fotografiar?
Si pudiera fotografiar algún universo ficticio, ese sería Pandora de Avatar. Sus exuberantes paisajes y su vibrante biodiversidad ofrecen infinitas oportunidades de exploración y descubrimiento. Captar su belleza etérea sería una experiencia increíble.
Además de la fotografía, ¿qué otras actividades te interesan?
Además de la fotografía, disfruto de los deportes de tabla como el esquí acuático, el skate, el snowboard y el surf. De vez en cuando intento mejorar mis habilidades con la guitarra y el piano, aunque el progreso ha sido lento. Además, practico escalada en bloque por diversión. También me apasiona la carpintería y el trabajo del metal, e intento crear siempre que tengo tiempo. Y por supuesto, viajar es una parte importante de mi vida, principalmente incorporando alguna de las actividades antes mencionadas.

Through his particular way of looking at and unraveling the environment, flower fields, beaches or riverbeds, as well as cities, become rich pictorial compositions that offer us a stimulating and emotional way to understand the world.
Where does your love for photography come from?
My love for photography blossomed after purchasing my first camera in 2019, initially using it for filming sports I enjoyed. However, in March 2021, I delved into photography more seriously, experimenting with various techniques to create unique and appealing images. Collaborating with friends added to the fun, providing opportunities to explore different styles and approaches together.
For me, photography is a liberating art form where there are no rules, allowing endless experimentation and creativity. Whether trying new techniques or simply capturing moments, photography remains a source of joy and endless possibilities in my life.
What are your main lines of work as a photographer?
My main line of work as a photographer revolves around nature and landscape photography, as it allows me to immerse myself in serene environments and capture the beauty of the natural world. I find solace in wandering through random places, always on the lookout for captivating subjects to photograph.
While nature photography is my primary passion and comes most naturally to me, I also enjoy experimenting with various photography genres to broaden my skills and perspective. Exploring different types of photography, such as street or urban photography, challenges me to adapt and learn, enriching my overall photographic journey.
Traveling to diverse locations fuels my creativity and presents exciting opportunities for growth, although I primarily photograph the picturesque countryside of Austria, where forests, riverbeds, and fields abound near my home. Ultimately, my photography is a blend of appreciation for the natural world, continuous experimentation, and the joy of capturing moments wherever my adventures take me.
Your photographs have a marked pictorial character and look like frames from a dream or a memory. Why do you like to create this aesthetic? Why are you interested in adding an unreal or dreamlike touch to the environment that surrounds you?
The dreamlike aesthetic in my photographs emerged naturally as I explored various techniques, finding joy and creativity in manipulating filters and lenses to capture scenes that resonate with a sense of surrealism. It’s not just about capturing reality but about transforming it into something unique and captivating, reflecting my fascination with the uncommon and extraordinary.
Pictorialism has been a significant influence on my work, offering the freedom to interpret and imbue images with personal meaning. Like in paintings, particularly watercolors and acrylics, where ambiguity invites deeper exploration, I strive to evoke a similar sense of intrigue and wonder in my photography. By adding an unreal or dreamlike touch to my surroundings, I aim to create images that transcend the ordinary, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in a world of imagination and emotion.
What message or idea do you want to send through your photographs?
Primarily, I create images that resonate with my personal aesthetic and bring me joy. I find fulfilment in the spontaneity of capturing appealing images in seemingly random locations, showcasing that beauty can be found anywhere, not just in traditionally photogenic spots. While my photographs may evoke specific emotions or hold personal meaning for me, I prefer to leave interpretation open to the viewer. I believe that each individual should connect with an image in their own way, allowing it to speak to them on a personal level.
What quality do you like or interest most about photography?
Photography’s charm lies in discovering beauty in every moment and having the freedom to express myself creatively while enjoying the process. Furthermore, I’ve come to realise that in photography, adverse weather conditions aren’t obstacles but rather gateways to extraordinary opportunities.
How do you stay creative? What are your main sources of inspiration?
My creativity thrives on spontaneity, often sparked by simply wandering through diverse landscapes. I make it a habit to rise early, seeking out the ethereal beauty of sunrise or the mysterious allure of foggy scenes before starting my day. Inspiration also strikes unexpectedly, whether from movies, random images, or paintings I encounter in magazines or on social media. Curiosity fuels my desire to understand and recreate certain looks, prompting me to experiment and push the boundaries of my craft.
What real place would you like to photograph?
There are so many places I’d love to shoot, but one that stands out is the Amazon rainforest. Its beauty and biodiversity are just incredible. I would just love to see everything there myself.
What fictional universe would you like to photograph?
If I could photograph any fictional universe, it would be Pandora from ‘Avatar’. Its lush landscapes and vibrant biodiversity offer endless opportunities for exploration and discovery. Capturing its ethereal beauty would be an incredible experience.
Besides photography, what other activities are you interested in?
Apart from photography, I enjoy boardsports like wakeboarding, skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing. Every now and then, I’m trying to improve my guitar and piano skills, although progress has been slow. Additionally, I dabble in bouldering for fun. Moreover, I have a passion for woodworking and metalworking, creating whenever I find the time. And of course, traveling is a big part of my life, mostly incorporating one of the mentioned activities.
